Dungarvan Scouts offer fun, adventure and real-life skills to young people aged 6 to 18.
Scouting has been part of the Dungarvan community since 1968, when the 11th Waterford Scout Group was first established. For over 50 years our volunteer leaders and committee members have supported hundreds of young people through an exciting programme of outdoor skills, teamwork, leadership, and personal growth; all starting from age six and continuing right up to adulthood.

Scouting encourages the social, physical, intellectual and emotional development of young people. It helps them in becoming responsible citizens, in appreciating and enhancing their community, and giving them lifelong skills which help them develop to their full potential.
Our Sections
As part of Scouting Ireland, which is one of the country’s largest youth organisations, we run four active sections: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts. Each section meets weekly at the den during school term, along with hikes and camps at weekends. The scout year begins in September so new intakes for each group start then
🐾 BEAVERS (AGES 6-9)
Beavers enjoy hands-on activities and adventures – from nature walks and team games to knot-tying, first aid, cooking and more. The highlight of the year is usually their first overnight camp – a big step and a big thrill!
🐺 CUBS (AGES 9-12)
Cubs build on what they’ve learned in Beavers, gaining independence through weekend camps, group challenges, and practical skills. It’s a time of confidence-building and learning to take responsibility.
⛺ SCOUTS (AGES 12-15)
Scouts take on more advanced challenges like long hikes, multi-night camping trips and national competitions. It’s about pushing boundaries, learning new skills and taking responsibility while learning leadership along the way.
🎒 VENTURE SCOUTS (AGES 12-15)
Our oldest section, Venturers plan and lead their own activities whether that’s a service project, expedition or week-long camp. It’s about discovering strengths, setting goals and enjoying the journey together.
