About Dungarvan Scouts
WHO WE ARE
Since 1968, the 11th Waterford Dungarvan Scout Group has been a vibrant part of our local community. For over 50 years, our dedicated team of volunteer leaders and committee members has delivered the Scouting Ireland programme to generations of young people, from Beavers (starting from age 6), through to Cubs, Scouts and finally Venture Scouts (up to age 18).

Dungarvan Scouts is a registered charity and governed by a Group Council made up of volunteers, who oversee the smooth running of the group. The day-to-day activities and adventures are led by our trained Scouters (Leaders), who take an active role in organising and delivering weekly meetings, camps, hikes, and events for each section.
Scouting supports the social, physical, intellectual and emotional development of young people. Our programme encourages confidence, community involvement and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. All while equipping our members with lifelong skills that help them reach their full potential.

Our Aim
At Dungarvan Scouts we believe that real learning happens through adventure. From overnight hikes to week-long camps, building shelters to cooking outdoors, our scouts develop not just practical skills but also resilience, leadership, and teamwork.
Scouts take part in community service, outdoor challenges, and national and international events – building friendships and experiences that stay with them for life. Through these activities, they gain valuable skills in:
- First aid & outdoor safety
- Navigation & planning
- Budgeting & project management
- Teamwork & leadership
- Environmental responsibility
These aren’t just skills for scouting, they’re skills for life.
